T.U.G.G. What's In Your Playlist?
Tim Armstrong "A Poet's Life"
This is one of my go to albums. It's in and out of rotation and I have it on every device I own. I love Tim Armstrong and I have since Operation Ivy. This is an album I like to listen to from start to finish because it has such an awesome reggae/early ska vibe to it!
Atmosphere "When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold"
Another album that is a constant go to. I was introduced to Atmosphere and Slug about 5 years ago and I have been hooked ever since. The honesty in Slug's lyrics completely kills me. The song on this album that gets worn out from being played over and over is "Me". I can't think of any other MC's with the balls to rip themselves apart like he does for the sake of his art, it's amazing!
Dubskin "Love in Spite of..."
A few of the T.U.G.G. guys caught Dubskin playing in our hometown of La Crosse, WI and they were raving about them. Their CD has been in the van ever since on constant rotation and we all love it and sing along like crazy. It's a great Roots-Reggae album from start to finish. We have yet to play with these guys but hope to very soon!
Michael Franti & Spearhead "Yell Fire"
Another album that is on rotation when I drive in the van. Our drummer Ben fell in love with this album and we all quickly followed suit. It's one of my favorite Franti albums because it has some deep reggae grooves but at the same time has some really pretty acoustic songs and moments. Sly & Robbie are like icing on the cake!
Josh Heinrichs & Friends
We were able to do a few shows with Josh on our summer tour and then we just played 2 Bob Marley b-day shows with Josh down in Missouri last weekend and Josh gave us all a copy of his new album. It has not left my iPod since I have been home and "New Love" has been in my head for about 3 days now. Josh's voice is an instrument all on it's own and his songwriting is something special!
